‘Toree 3D’ Rushes & Jumps Through Peculiar Low-Poly Places

Posted on May 5, 2021April 26, 2021 by Joel Couture

Toree 3D‘s cool bird hero is out to get places in a hurry (not unlike a certain famous hedgehog) and collect stars while they’re at it. You just need to keep up.

The game aims to capture the look and feel a certain kind of early platformer (the shades on an animal are a dead giveaway for that particular era of ‘rad’ mascots). As such, you’ll take control of this bouncy bird, leaping across distant rooftops, across aircraft carriers, through wind tunnels, and into all sorts of strange kinds of trouble. Why? Got to get stars. What do stars even do? Well, they’re stars, and since they’re in a video game, you need them. It’s just kind of a thing. Which is strange when you should really concentrate on not plummeting to your doom.

Toree 3D

This isn’t the developer’s first foray into the early polygon era, as Siactro, the game’s creator, is also the person behind Macbat 64. That title draws from the play and style of many 3D collect-a-thons, but without the emphasis on speed that comes from this new title. If you play the new title well enough, perhaps someone from the developer’s past might be playable in this game, though. Although I’m not sure they’re used to moving around as frantically as this cool bird.

Toree 3D offers some high-speed platforming across an array of colorful locales, giving you an outlet for your need to grab stars and double jump.

Toree 3D is available now on itch.io and Steam.
