To kick off Mobility Awareness Month, Miami-Dade County leaders and advocates for the disabled community will host a plug-in ceremony at Miami International Airport to celebrate the installation of wheelchair charging stations in each of the airport's concourses. MIA is one of the first U.S. airports to install charging stations nationwide. The 10 new charging stations will make the airport more accessible and improve the overall experience for travelers using wheelchairs beyond the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. Passengers will now have more independence to move about MIA without worrying about low batteries on their power wheelchairs or mobility devices. Locations for the wheelchair charging stations and MIA's other accessibility services are available at MIA's MyMIAccess web page.
