French networks close April with over 13,300 5G cell sites in or ready for service

Wednesday 5 May 2021 | 10:16 CET | News
The number of 5G cell sites emitting a signal across mainland France increased by 1,119 in April to reach 13,332 as of 01 May, according to spectrum agency ANFR. This total includes antennas in or ready for commercial service, and represents 55 percent of the 24,219 sites for which operators have already received 5G permits. With the exception of two cell sites, the agency has so far authorised 5G installations on existing mobile towers used for 2G/3G/4G services.
