Gurgaon: The Covid recovery rate in Gurgaon is going up with nearly 4,000 patients being discharged every day.
Nearly 9,000 Covid patients have recuperated from the infection in the last two days and the recovery rate stands at 72%.
However, there is no relief in terms of the number of fresh Covid cases in the city. Gurgaon’s medical infrastructure is under immense strain with more than 3,500 fresh cases being added on an average daily in the past 15 days. As many as 4,475 persons were found positive for the virus on Tuesday.
The positivity rate rose to 28% on the day — a 10 percentage points jump from Monday when the number was 18%. The Covid caseload now stands at 1,38,154. At 37,708, the active cases account for nearly a fourth of the total count. A total of 35,069 patients are in home isolation, 2,447 in hospitals and 192 in district Covid care centres (mild cases).
As many as 11 deaths were reported on Tuesday, taking the toll to 522. Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries stands at 99,924 and the fatality rate stands at 0.3%.
“The recovery rate is improving but it’s not going to have any major impact on the outbreak numbers. We are expecting the fresh cases to hover between 3,000 and 4,000 for another week. We are not sure if Gurgaon has achieved the peak in the present surge. We are still analysing the situation. We are warning people to stay indoors and follow social distancing and wear masks all the time to avoid getting infected,” said Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer (CMO) , Gurgaon.
Meanwhile, 91 people were sent to institutional quarantine facilities on Tuesday. So far, 12,78,772 people have been put under surveillance in the city. In the past 24 hours, the health authorities collected 15,827 samples for antigen and RT-PCR tests.
Till now, 12,75,186 samples have been sent for testing, of which 11,21,205 returned negative while the results of 3,720 are awaited.
