Highest single day surge of 432 recorded, State sees two more deaths

The second wave of the Coronavirus has begun to hit the State really hard with Manipur recording the single day highest surge of 432 positive cases in the last 24 hours with two deaths taking the total number of active cases in the State to 2391 including 115 from Central security personnel.
The previous single day highest surge was 426 recorded on October 17 in 2020 .
Along with scripting a new record in the number of cases on a day, the State also saw the deaths of two persons in the last 24 hours taking the total death tally to 424 .
The two persons who passed away due to the contagion in the last 24 hours include a 58 year old male from Thoubal and a 45 year old man from Bishnupur.
They both succumbed to the disease at JNIMS.
According to a statement issued by the Additional Director of Health and spokesperson of COVID-19 Common Control Room, the total of 432 is inclusive of 250 males and 182 females.
One personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) also tested positive.
The positive cases from amongst the general population are from Imphal East (108), Imphal West (183), Thoubal (17), Bishnupur (26), Kakching (35), Ukhrul (5), Churachandpur (42), Tengnoupal (1), Tamenglong (6), Senapati (3), Kangpokpi (1), Jiribam (3) and Kamjong (2) .
All necessary precautionary measures including containment and contact tracing are in place, said the statement.
The positive persons were tested at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Imphal West, Maipakpi, Raj Medicity, RD Wing, CMC, Ema Hospital, Imphal Hospital, Shija Hospital, Jivan Hospital, Advance Hospital, Asian Hospital, Babina Diagnostics, Escent Diagnostics, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching, Ukhrul, Churachandpur, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal, Senapati, Jiribam and Kamjong.
The cumulative number of positive cases now stands at 32,956 (general population-29,370 and Central security personnel 3,586).In the last 24 hours 111 persons were discharged/recovered including 4 from CAPF, 87 from home isolation, 4 from RIMS, 9 from JNIMS, 1 from Raj Medicity and 6 from Shija Hospital.
The cumulative number of recovered cases is 30,141 including 3466 Central security personnel.
The recovery rate now stands at 91.45 percent.
The COVID-19 Common Control Room has also asked air passengers who travelled to the State on May 2 by Indigo flight number 6181 and were seated on rows 11-17 to inform the control room (1800-345-3818) or respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO) for further surveillance and necessary testing.
The total number of persons who have been vaccinated now stands at 2,21,983 .
