Revenue collection in state has declined by 50 pc due to second wave of Coronavirus: Rameshwar Oraon

Revenue collection in state has declined by 50 pc due to second wave of Coronavirus: Rameshwar Oraon

Ranchi, May 5 (UNI) Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon on Wednesday said that due to the second wave of Coronavirus revenue collection in Jharkhand has declined by 50 per cent.

However, he said that unlike previous year this time a complete ban has not been imposed on Agriculture, Minning and Construction works due to which the situation was not as bad as the previous year but on the other side revenue collection in present fiscal has been impacted.

He said that to check the spread of Coronavirus in the state the party was in favour of putting up further strict restrictions and it is very important to put a curb on social and religious functions.

He said that during his visit to Gumla he was informed that this time Coronavirus has reached into the villages which were not seen the previous year therefore gatherings must be stopped in rural areas.

Dr Oraon said that due to vaccination the impact of the virus can be lessened. He said that advance payment has been made to the vaccine manufacturers but they have expressed their inability to supply the vaccines till May 15 however if the centre will provide vaccines, vaccination of people in the age group 18 years can be started.

He said that scientists across the world are of the view that vaccination can reduce the dangers of Coronavirus and even people are becoming aware towards it, however, he said that with collective efforts Jharkhand will be able to come out of these difficult times.
