Oxygen Tankers To Be Fitted With GPS Tracker Mandated By MoRTH: FADA Raises Funds
With the second wave of Coronavirus spreading at a rapid rate in the country, there is a major demand for medical oxygen in the country. Medical oxygen is currently being used to treat the affected patients in the country.
Massive consignment of Oxygen Tankers is being deployed to fulfil the shortage in Hospitals across the country. However, due to the heavy movement, tracking these tankers are difficult. As a result, (MoRTH) Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has mandated the use of GPS trackers to the oxygen tankers in the country.
To help with the installation of the GPS tracker to oxygen tankers, the (FADA) Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations, Maharastra have raised a total of Rs 10 lakhs. The organization aims to install devices that feature Vehicle Location Tracking (VLT) as per AIS 140 norms.
FADA Maharashtra Chapter decided to make its contribution to strengthening the hands of the State Administration in battling the 2nd wave of Covid-19. With the GPS devices fitted to the tankers, it enables the transport department to monitor it on a single dashboard which has been set up in Transport Commissioner's office.
The oxygen tankers will start being enabled with the fitment from the start of this week. The oxygen tankers are being monitored 24*7 to ensure an uninterrupted supply of oxygen to hospitals.
Commenting on the timely action, Vinkesh Gulati, FADA President, said, " FADA got an opportunity to strengthen the hands of Maharashtra State Administration during the 2nd wave of this pandemic. We have tried to do our best as this is a small contribution towards enabling the transport department to monitor oxygen tankers movement on a single dashboard."
He further stated, "This will definitely help save the lives of patients by providing them lifesaving oxygen on time. I thank both, Dr Dhakane State TC - MH and FADA MH Chapter Mr Amar Sheth to make this possible."
Speaking on the occasion, Amar Jatin Sheth, State Chairperson FADA said, "This was an opportunity to contribute for the state by efficiently managing the movement of the tankers through technology."
Dr Dhakane, Transport Commissioner, Maharashtra stated that GPS trackers on the oxygen tankers will enable them to do a quick turnaround and help save more lives. He also thanked FADA Maharastra for the contribution and their timely thinking.
