Help stop trafficking of children orphaned by Covid-19: Maharashtra govt

MUMBAI: The state women and child welfare department has raised an alarm over illegal adoption and trafficking of children who have lost their parents to the Covid-19 pandemic and whose relatives are reluctant to take on their responsibilities.
In a press release, the department has urged the public to inform about any such cases on 1098 helpline or approach the State Adoption Resource Agency at 8329041531.
The department on Tuesday also set up a special cell along with NGO Save the Children which can be reached at 8308992222/7400015518. Those wanting to adopt these children can obtain information on the Central Adoption Resource Agency website www.cara.nic.in.
