Twitter Spaces is now officially available for everyone around the world but with a requirement of at least 600 followers. It can be used by both Android and iOS users by tapping the compose tweet option. The announcement was made through a blog post where Twitter also talked about some of the features lined up for the future.

Spaces is an audio-chat feature similar to Clubhouse and a few other social media apps. It lets users create a "space" where they can interact with other members on the platform through voice. Each space can have numerous members but only up to 10 users can be allowed to become speakers. This is done to avoid chaotic situations and to ensure that spaces can be used for holding meaningful conversations. It is the room creator who will have the authority to assign speaker roles and to allow who can and cannot join the room even as a listener.

Twitter says it still has the goal of making Spaces available for everyone but is moving ahead gradually. It decided to set the current limit at 600 followers after listening to the feedback from early testers as well as through its own experiences. As for users who might be interested in joining others' Spaces, the app will show a Purple-colored circle around the profile picture of the accounts that have Space ongoing. It will also show these profiles at the top of the home feed similar to how it shows Fleets.

The official blog post said,

"Based on what we’ve learned so far, these accounts are likely to have a good experience hosting live conversations because of their existing audience. Before bringing the ability to create a Space to everyone, we’re focused on learning more, making it easier to discover Spaces, and helping people enjoy them with a great audience."

For the future, Twitter is working on a few noteworthy features that it has talked about briefly. Ticketed Spaces is a feature that will allow users to earn money by charging users to join their spaces. A host will be able to set the "ticket" price of the space as well as the number of tickets that will be available for purchase. It will be available to a select number of users in the coming months and as one would expect, Twitter will keep "a small amount" from the total revenue.

The hosts will also be able to create reminders for their respective Spaces. It will help their followers in ensuring that they do not miss out on any of the upcoming spaces. Other noteworthy features that will come to Spaces include the ability to co-host a room with other users and support for live captions.
