New Delhi: The BCCI will reschedule Wednesday’s IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals here, as CSK was forced into tough quarantine after bowling coach L Balaji tested positive for COVID-19.
According to the Council’s standard procedure, anyone who has come into contact with an infected person must undergo a six-day hard quarantine and return three negative RT-PCR reports in the course of it.
“Tomorrow’s match in the Arun Jaitley Stadium between CSK and RR will be rescheduled according to the SOP rules. Since Balaji was in contact with the players, everyone went into hard quarantine. They are supposed to be tested every day, ‘a senior BCCI official told PTI about conditions of anonymity.
When Kasi Viswanathan, CEO of CSK, was contacted, he said that CSK had informed BCCI about Balaji’s RT-PCR result.
“For our part, we have been informed that Mr Balaji has tested positive and according to SOP, our players have been isolated,” Viswanathan said.
This is the second IPL match to be rescheduled after the Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore match was postponed on Monday because some KKR players – Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier – tested positive.
