Kolkata, May 4 (UNI) Even as the West Bengal government announced partial lockdown
in the districts and city from Saturday last to break the chain of deadly viruses, the second
surge of Covid-19 began to take record number of toll (107) in the past 24 hours.
Of the 107 deaths reported on Tuesday, North 24 pargans district topped the list with 33
casualties, followed by Kolkata 31, Howrah 10 and South 24 pargans 10
With the rise of pandemic patients, particularly in urban and city areas, the scarcity of
medical facility of was also felt.
In the past 24 hours the graph went upto 17639 new covid cases and death was reported
to 107 and total death so far 11,744 since March 2020
North 24 pargans has registered a one-day spike of 3954 coronavirus cases, while Kolkata
reported 3914 cases.
However, some 16,547 patients recovered from the disease during the last 24 hours, taking
the total number of discharged people to 7,65,843 .
Total discharged rate as on Tuesday is 85.23 percent.
