Thane godown gutted in fire

Thane, May 4 (UNI) A furniture godown at Daopda of Bhiwandi was on Tuesday gutted in a fire, officials said.

The Chief of the RDMC of the TMC Santosh Kadam said that the fire broke out at the godown at around 1130 hrs and fire engines from BNMC and KDMC were rushed to the scene to put out the fire.

Also jumbo water tanker from Thane was rushed to assist the local firemen in dousing the fire, he said.

As it was the furniture godown and contained wood, the fire spread fast in the area. The fire was finally put out at around 1540 hrs, he said.

While the cause of fire is under probe, no one was injured in the blaze, he said.
