It is the first week of a new month which means it is also time for new security updates. Google has started pushing the May 2021 security update for all eligible Pixel smartphones. There are a total of nine models spread across multiple generations with Pixel 3 being the oldest lineup.

The complete list includes Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, and Pixel 5. All of these will receive the update over-the-air (OTA) and an update notification should pop up anytime soon. It should be noted that rollout usually happens in a phased manner in the beginning. This would result in some devices receiving the update sooner and others a little later.

As is the case with all software update, one should try to connect to a WiFi network before beginning the download process. This is specifically beneficial for those who are on a limited cellular data plan. Once the download is complete, it is recommended that you have at least 50% power left on the phone before hitting that install button.

The build number of the software is RQ2A.210505.002 for all supported devices excluding the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5. These two smartphones will get the build number RQ2A.210505.003 instead. If you own any of the aforementioned Pixel phones, look out for the update notification that will become available anytime from now.
