Renault launched the Kiger in February 2021 and it received a good response from the Indian market. Now, the prices of the new compact SUV has been increased. The increased amount depends on the variant you opt for. The new prices have come in effect from 1st May.

The Kiger was launched in two petrol engine options. There is a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The naturally aspirated engine is offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox or an AMT. The turbocharged engine is offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission.

The naturally aspirated petrol engine is offered in four variants. There is RXE, RXL, RXT and RXZ. The price for the base RXE variant has not been changed. So, the Kiger still starts from Rs. 5.45 lakhs ex-showroom. This makes the Magnite the most affordable compact SUV that you can buy in the Indian market. The price of the RXL variant has gone up by Rs. 18,000, for RXT the price hike is Rs. 20,000 and the price of RXZ has been increased by Rs. 14,000.

Then we come to the AMT variants of the Triber. The AMT gearbox is offered with RXL, RXT, and RXZ. The price of the RXL has increased by Rs 23,000 while for the RXT variant it has gone up by Rs. 25,000 and the RXZ variant now costs Rs. 19,000 more.

Finally, we come to the Turbo variants. The RXL’s price has gone up by Rs. 28,000, the RXT’s price has been increased by Rs. 30,000 and the RXZ is now dearer by Rs. 24,000. The CVT variant’s prices have not been increased. So, the most affordable CVT that you can buy is the RXT Turbo CVT that is priced at Rs. 8.6 lakhs ex-showroom. Renault is giving you an option to opt for dual-tone paint for any variant. However, that will cost you Rs. 3,000 more. There are six colours you can choose from. They are Ice Cool White, Planet Grey, Moonlight Grey, Mahagony Brown, Caspian Blue and Radiant Red with Mystery Black Roof.

The naturally aspirated petrol engine is the same one that we have seen on the Triber and the Nissan Magnite. The engine produces 71 hp of max power and a peak torque output of 96 Nm. The turbocharged engine produces 99 hp of max power and a peak torque output of 160 Nm. If you opt for the CVT automatic transmission the torque output is decreased to 152 Nm.

The Kiger is based on the  CMF-A platform. This is the same platform that has been used for the Triber and the Nissan Magnite. Nissan claims a fuel efficiency figure of 20 kmph for the turbocharged petrol engine. It has a ground clearance of 205 mm which is enough for tackling our bad Indian roads. It also has a decent boot space capacity of 405-litres.

It also comes equipped with quite a few features. You get LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, a digital instrument cluster, three driving modes namely Eco, Normal and Sport, a floating touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, up to four airbags, a rear parking camera and much more. Unfortunately, there is no sunroof on offer.
