PM Modi holds virtual summit with Boris Johnson; Aims at increasing bilateral trade by 2030
PM Modi holds a virtual meet the UK counterpart, Boris Johnson to discuss the roadmap for elevating the bilateral trade by 2030.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi holds a virtual summit with the UK PM Boris Johnson, on Tuesday, informs PM Modi in his tweet.
He tweets, “Had a productive virtual summit with my friend UK PM Boris Johnson. We adopted an ambitious roadmap 2030 for elevating India-UK ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.”

Further adding, PM Modi says that they embrace the launch of an Enhanced Trade Partnership intending to accelerate the bilateral trade by the year 2030. They’ve also had a discourse on various other subjects like health, technology, energy, etc.
“We welcomed the launch of an Enhanced Trade Partnership as a roadmap to a comprehensive FTA, with a target to more than double the bilateral trade by 2030. We also agreed upon several new initiatives in health, technology, energy, etc,” tweets PM Modi.
In addition to this, he informs, “We discussed ongoing cooperation on Covid-19 pandemic and reiterated commitment to ambitious climate action to meet Paris goals in the run-up to COP26”.

Also, as per the reports of the ministry of external affairs, the summit will be a significant opportunity that will elevate multi-dimensional strategic ties between the two countries. Also, both the leaders will discuss the Covid-19 and global endeavors to fight out the same.
Well, earlier, UK PM Johnson was scheduled to visit India late in April. However, due to the surging up of Covid cases in the country, he called it off.
Meanwhile, the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is on his visit to London till the 6th of May to participate in the G-7 Foreign Ministers meeting.
