Sad news has emerged from Jammu and Kashmir. In fact, the former Governor Jagmohan Malhotra died on Monday (May 4). 94-year-old Malhotra was lying ill for a few days after which he breathed his last in Delhi.
Was held the post of Governor of Jammu and Kashmir twice
Apart from being the governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Jagmohan was also a Union Minister. He was also the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and Goa. Jagmohan was also elected in the Lok Sabha. He also held the post of Minister of Urban Development and Tourism. He held the post of Governor of Jammu and Kashmir twice. He held the post from 1984 to 1989 and again from January to May in 1990. Jagmohan Malhotra, who once made a mark in Delhi as a strict bureaucrat, later entered politics. He also became a minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.
Amit Shah started a contact campaign with Jagmohan
It is worth mentioning that when the BJP started the contact campaign after removing Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, then Amit Shah and JP Nadda, the current BJP President, had reached their house in Chanakyapuri to meet former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Jagmohan Malhotra. The contact campaign started with Amit Shah meeting Jagmohan. Jagmohan was first sent by the Congress government in 1984 as governor. During the first innings, he remained the Governor till June 1989. Then VP Singh Sarkar again sent him as Governor in January 1990. He held this post till May 1990.
To take tough decisions
While governor, Jagmohan took a number of tough decisions in the valley. Strategized the operation against the terrorists. The Kashmiri Pandits also tried to stop the atrocities. However, he also faced a lot of opposition from local leaders. In 2004, Arun Shourie said, "It is Jagmohan, who saved the valley for India." He gradually re-established the authority of the state and drove away from the terrorists. '
