Thread: What does blocking a number on your smartphone actually do?

I was wondering what actually happens when you block a number from calling you on your smartphone?

When I tested it with someone asking them to call me after I blocked them I was somewhat surprised that while the phone never rang or gave any indication of an incoming call, the person was able to leave voice mail and I heard the voice mail sound.

Is this normal or does it depend on the phone/carrier?

thats what those apps do. if you srsly want to block a number (where it tells the caller they are blocked and cant leave any messages/alerts) you have to call your provider and ask but that is straight beta/women ****
