Effective 1st May, Atul Jerath steps down from ITC's board of directors following his retirement from The Oriental Insurance Company
ITC Ltd confirmed on Saturday that Atul Jerath has stepped down from its board of directors following his retirement from The Oriental Insurance Company.
In a regulatory filing, the Kolkata headquartered company stated,
''Mr Atul Jerath has stepped down from the Board of Directors of the Company with effect from May 1, 2021, consequent to his retirement from The Oriental Insurance Company Ltd,''
Jerath had joined the conglomerate's board as a Non-Executive Director from January 31, 2020, where he represented the interests of the General Insurers' (Public Sector) Association of India.
Atul Jerath is a seasoned professional with over 36 years of experience spanning across The New India Assurance Company Limited and then in The Oriental Insurance Company Limited since 2012 across different functionalities. His expertise spanned across domains of Marketing, Technical verticals of Property, Miscellaneous, Motor, Liability, Health & Aviation. He had also worked in core insurance functionalities like Reinsurance, Investment, Information Technology and Investment functions as Chief Investment Officer and Financial Advisor of Oriental Insurance.
He joined The Oriental Insurance Company Limited ('Oriental Insurance') in 2012 and has headed its Marketing and Technical verticals. He has also been responsible for handling reinsurance, information technology and investment functions as Chief Investment Officer and Financial Advisor of Oriental Insurance. Presently, he is a Wholetime Director of Oriental Insurance, looking after its Health Insurance portfolio including Ayushmaan Bharat and other Government schemes, product development and risk management, and is also the Chief Risk Officer of Oriental Insurance.
Jerath is a Commerce Graduate from Delhi University and a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India, with a specialised Diploma in Marine and Health Insurance. He also holds a Diploma in Business Administration.
