Kerala won't be able to start the Covid vaccination drive for the age group of 18-44 years anytime soon as the state is yet to receive the vaccines it had ordered. According to sources, the state government cannot provide the Centre's vaccine quota to those between 18-44.

According to regulation, vaccines for those in the age group of 18-44 will have to be procured by the state.

Kerala has formed a procurement committee to get vaccines directly from the manufacturers, however, there is no clear date for the delivery of the vaccines.

At present the state has 3.18 lakh doses provided by the Centre and priority will be given to those awaiting their second dose and those above 45 years.
