IPL 2021: KL Rahul operated for appendicitis, will not be available for next 10-12 days

IPL 2021 – PBKS vs DC: Big blow for Punjab Kings, KL Rahul admitted to hospital with severe abdomen pain: In a major setback for Punjab Kings right before their match against Delhi Capitals tonite, captain KL Rahul has been admitted to hospital.

According to information coming in from PBKS team management Rahul is expected to be operated on Sunday night at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. The team expects him to return to action within a week or 10 days

“Post his surgery, his recovery will be in a bubble so that he remains in a protected environment (amid the COVID-19 pandemic),” said a BCCI source.

Accoridng to release by PBKS, “Rahul complained of a severe abdomen pain on Saturday night and after not responsing to medication, he was taken to the emergency room for further tests. The tests revealed that he was diagnosed with acute appendicitis. It will be resolved surgically and for safety measures he has been transferred to the hospital for the same.”

IPL 2021: It is worth noting that Rahul is not only leading  PBKS in IPL 2021 but is also team’s No. 1 batsman.

Rahul is currently leading the Orange Cap Lederboard with 331 Runs from 7 matches with a average of 66.6 and a strike rate touching 137.

PBKS to play Delhi Capitals tonite – KL RAHUL will not be available, Mayank Agarwal to lead the team

His friend and Karnataka teammate Agarwal will lead the side at least for the next three games.

Agarwal had missed the last game against RCB due to an injury he suffered in the previous match against Kolkata Knight Riders. He has now regained full fitness.

Being an Indian player and an integral part of the playing eleven, the management chose Agarwal to lead the side while Rahul is recovering. The duo forms one of the best opening pairings in the IPL.

Punjab Kings, who have never won the IPL, have three wins from seven games before Sunday’s match this season.
