After DMK's victory, woman cuts part of tongue, fulfills vow

Chennai, May 3 (UNI) In a shocking incident, a 32-year-old
woman DMK supporter chopped her part of a tongue at a
Goddess Mariamman temple to fulfill her vow taken for the
victory of the DMK in the April six Assembly elections.
After the DMK's victory, the woman, Vanitha, went to the
temple, but it was closed. Suddenly, she chopped off her
part of the tongue in front of temple and offered it to the
deity, reports received here said.
The incident took place at Paramakudi taluka in Poduvakudi
village in Ramanathapuram district of Tamil nadu.
The woman was the wife of Karthik, who is a DMK member.
As locals found her with bleeding mouth, she was taken to
Paramakudi Government Hospital, where she was admitted
for treatment.
This is the second such incident in one month after a DMK
worker cut off one of his fingers at a Mariamman temple on
the last day of campaigning in Virudhunagar district, while
praying for the DMK's victory in the elections.
He was admitted to Virudhunagar government hospital for
treatment.
The DMK after being in the Opposition for ten years, stormed
back to power with a resounding victory and its President
M K Stalin is all set to become the Chief Minister for the
first time.
