Watched some documentaries here and there and it legit made me sad.
Legit people who served and saw some nasty **** only to be discharged with no skills for the economy and a host of PTSD leading to substance abuse.
IMHO, wouldn't it make sense to have some decent programs to have them set for life - as expensive as it sounds?
What a bad deal - you go fight and you might die then you get PTSD, your wife calls quits (probably did while you are gone) and takes the kid.

I am not sure the individual reasons for becoming homeless, but I strongly support supporting veterans before non-US citizens and other pet projects.

It's possible because we live in a free country. They are usually homeless for the similar reasons as other homeless people. Severe mental illness/drug problems, and thats the life they want. Not because they aren't supported financially.

if you have a mental illness though, you can't just stop being mentally ill lmao
and a lot of mental illness in men who have seen war are stemming from PTSD which can lead to depression etc
there have been many studies on mental health before and after serving and there is a positive correlation compared to base male US population (who would have thought!)communist until you get rich

Yeah it's still different with vets though. I'm sure many were totally fine before being tossed into a world of extreme violence in their teens and early 20s with minimal support structures.
Heard it time and time again, especially from SOF guys who have a high number of deployments and TBI's. It affects your brain seriously.ωσяℓ∂ тяανєℓєя ȼяєω
