‘Toufaan’ release postponed due to continuous Covid pandemic

Mumbai: The producers of the Farhan Akhtar main character “Toofan” announced via social media on Monday that the release date of the boxing drama has been postponed due to the second wave of Covid.

Farhan, who also co-produced the film with partner Ritesh Sidhwani and film director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, posted the makers’ joint statement on his Twitter account.

‘The situation in India is really heartbreaking, and we at Excel Entertainment and ROMP Pictures are sending our thoughts and prayers to all those affected by the pandemic. Given the seriousness of the situation, we focus entirely on the pandemic and on supporting our employees, their families and helping the wider community. Therefore, we decided to postpone the release of our movie ‘Toofaan’ until the situation improves. We will issue an update on the new release date in due course, ‘the statement read.

‘Keep observing Covid Appropriate behavior. Also register and get vaccinated if it’s your turn. On behalf of the entire team of Toofaan we request you to stay at home, stay safe and stay united. Jai Hind, ”reads the statement.

The film is scheduled for premiere on Amazon Prime Video.
