Former MLA Muthyam Reddy dies

Hyderabad: Veteran Congressman and former lawmaker Rajayyagari Muthyam Reddy died Monday at his home in Medak after a short illness. He was also chairman of Medak Zilla Parishad and also MLC.

Muthyam Reddy hails from Kamaram town in Chinnashankarampeta Mandal in Medak district and was elected Ramayampet MLA in 1978 on behalf of the Congress party. However, he sacrificed his seat for T Anjaiah when the latter was appointed by Congress as the Prime Minister of Andhra Pradesh. high command. He later served as MLC and Zilla Parishad chairman, among others. He has been staying away from politics for some time due to age-related issues.

Prime Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao mourned the death of Muthyam Reddy and conveyed his condolences to the members of the grieving family. He recalls the services rendered by Muthyam Reddy and his association with the latter as the duo belongs to the same Medak district. He also remembered how Muthyam Reddy sacrificed his MLA seat and also his services as MLC and ZP chairman. He said with the death of Muthyam Reddy, the former Medak district had lost an ideal leader.
