Gurgaon: A gang, which was allegedly involved in the sale of
Remdesivir injections in black market, was busted by a team comprising
Gurgaon police and
drug control officer Aman Chouhan on Sunday.
Police said that Chetan Kapoor, Nitin Josh and Lima sold a
vial of the drug at Rs 45,000.
The police formed a team after receiving a tip-off that the gang was selling Remdesivir at very high prices. The team then sent a decoy customer to get in touch with the gang.
“They asked for Rs 2.25 lakh for five vials of the drug. A place for the transaction was decided where a woman reached on a scooter and handed over the injections to her accomplice, who then gave it to us,” said a police officer.
He was immediately nabbed, while a team of cops followed the woman and arrested her later.
An FIR has been registered against the three under the essential commodities Act 1995 and sections 420 and 120b of the IPC (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) at the Sector 53 police station.
Police said Kapoor worked as a senior security assistant at a private hospital, while Nitin is a nursing staff supervisor.
“They fudged the hospital records and showed that the injections were used for patients. They then sold them in black market,” said a statement released by the police. This comes a week after the CM flying squad busted a similar racket in Rewari.
