Take action against private hospitals for charging more than fixed Govt rates: Tope

Jalna, May 3 (UNI) Maharashtra and District Guardian Minister Rajesh Tope on Monday expressed concern over increasing Covid cases in the district and directed authorities to accelerate the number of RTPCR tests as compared to antigen tests and place more emphasis on institutional segregation.
He also instructed to take action against those private hospitals that charge more than the prescribed rate set by the government for treatment.
The minister gave these instructions at a meeting held here at the collector's office to review the corona situation.

He said since the common man, despite having symptoms of corona like cold, cough and fever, is ignoring them and staying at home, emphasis should be placed on institutional isolation of affected patients.
He emphasized on preventing the death of infected patients due to corona.
Mr Tope said that patients are asked to undergo various unnecessary tests in private hospitals, putting more financial burden on them.
Therefore, the doctors of all private hospitals in the district should be instructed in this regard, he said.
He also said that the rates charged for treatment of Covid patients by private hospitals would be revised by the Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat, and the same would be published in the newspapers.
He warned that action would be taken against those private hospitals that charge more than the rates fixed by the government.
