2021 West Bengal, WB Assembly Election Vote Counting Live Coverage: Mamata Banerjee-led TMC has once again swept the state by leading in over 210 of 294 seats. It has restricted the BJP just under 80 seats. However, Mamata Banerjee is trailing in Nandigram. Earlier, she was declared winner from Nandigram but later it was reported that Suvendu had won the high-stake battle. But the EC is yet to announce the results. Overall, Bengal results have come as a huge shock to the BJP, which was expecting to win over 200 seats. Mamata has thanked the people of the state for the landslide victory in Bengal.

Assembly Election Results 2021 Live Updates

Some of the BJP’s star faces are trailing against the TMC candidates. BJP MPs Babul Supriyo and Locket Chatterjee are trailing in their constituencies. Former Rajya Sabha MP and BJP leader Swapan Dasgupta is trailing from Tarakeshwar. The BJP was expecting tough contest but the TMC has gone ahead of it by a very big margin. Though, the saffron party has improved its tally from three seats in 2016 to about 100 in 2021.

    Citing outcome in WB polls, NCP seeks Amit Shah's resignation

    Stating that the public mandate is a referendum in democracy, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Sunday demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah reminding him of his reported remarks during the campaigning for the West Bengal elections. "During West Bengal violence, Mamata Didi asked for Amit Shah's resignation. He said I will resign only if people ask me to. In a democracy, election is a referendum and today it is against him.     Senior Congress leader Anand Sharma on Sunday congratulated West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her party's victory in the state assembly elections, saying it was reassuring for the country and termed it a triumph for India's constitutional democracy. Sharma, a former Union minister said, Banerjee's victory is a win against the BJP's misuse of state power and unprecedented money and muscle power.     Mukul Roy leads by over 8,200 votes after fifth round

    West Bengal Election results 2021: Mukul Roy is leading by over 8,200 votes in Krishnanagar Uttar. Roy is fighting against Koushani Mukherjee of TMC and Sylvie Saha of the Congress.

    West Bengal had gone to polls in eight phases from March 27 to March 29. Bengal has 294-member assembly, and a party needs 148 seats to cross the majority mark required to form the government. The BJP and TMC are in direct contest in most of the seats in the state, while in some areas the Congress-Left is also in fight, making it a three-way contest. Counting of votes will take place today to decide who will rule this eastern state for another five years.
