SILCHAR: Employees of the two defunct paper mills in Assam expressed hope that the next state government will consider the issue of revival of the mills on a priority basis. The Joint Action Committee of Recognised Unions (JACRU) of Cachar and Nagaon Paper Mills made an appeal for revival of the mills saying that the next government in the state should take necessary steps to restart the industries and remit all the dues of their employees. JACRU president Manabendra Chakraborty on Saturday said that both the BJP-led alliance and the Congress’ mahajot had promised during their campaigning that the paper mills would be revived if they win the assembly election and form the next government. “In the last five years, the state government just kept on giving assurances but did absolutely nothing,” he said.
