Assembly polls: Pawar congratulates Vijayan, Stalin as trends indicate their victory

New Delhi, May 2 (UNI) NCP president Sharad Pawar on Sunday congratulated Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and DMK president M K Stalin in Tamil Nadu after the trends indicated a landslide victory for them in the ongoing counting of votes for the state Assembly polls in their respective states.

'Congratulations to Mr. @vijayanpinarayi on a historical consecutive victory in the Kerala elections.

Together we fought these elections and now together we will fight the battle against Covid!,' the NCP

president said in a tweet.

In Kerala, the latest trend showed that Mr Vijayan-led LDF has managed to beat the anti-incumbency

and return for a second consecutive term, altering the four-decades-long electoral tradition in Kerala.

As per the latest trends, LDF was leading in 90 of the total 140 seats while opposition UDF was

ahead in 47 seats and BJP-led NDA ahead in three seats.

Congratulating DMK president M K Stalin, the NCP president in a tweet said, 'Congratulations @mkstalin on your win, a truly well deserved victory! Wishing you the best to serve people who have instilled their faith in you!'

According to the latest trends, in Tamil Nadu, the Opposition DMK has gained an edge over the ruling AIADMK and crossed the simple majority mark, having establishing leads in 118 of the 234 Assembly seats.
