Trinamool Congress approaches EC, demands retelling in Nandigram

Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress has demanded the retelling of the Nandigram constituency from which Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee stood and claims a number of illegalities in the process of counting the votes.

According to unofficial sources, Banerjee lost the Nandigram elections for the BJP candidate and her former lieutenant Suvendu Adhikari by about 1,700 votes. However, the Electoral Commission could not confirm the outcome.

The TMC wrote to the CEO requesting that the votes be recalculated immediately. According to party sources, there is a scam and mismanagement of numbers of the EVM and said that the counting process was stuck from time to time and was not reported by the opinion poll.

The TMC also described the Refusing Officer’s refusal to carry out the retelling of the votes as ‘unlawful and colored’.

“We are investigating the matter. A decision will be made soon, ‘an official said.
Meanwhile, Suvendu Adhikari took to Twitter to thank the people for voting in his favor and choosing him as their representative.

“My sincere thanks to the great people of Nandigram for their love, trust, blessings and support, and for choosing me as their representative and the MLA of #Nandigram. It is my never-ending commitment to employ them and work for their well-being. I am sincerely grateful! ”Tweeted Adhikari.
