Under the leadership of prime minister narendra modi and amit shah, former TMC minister Suvendu Adhikari is contesting against trinamool congress chief and West bengal chief minister mamata Banerjee. Exit polls on april 28th have hinted at close contest between TMC and bjp in the state. TMC has crossed the 200 mark in the leads, bjp has been pushed below 90. However, these are still leads as several rounds are still left to be counted.

      As of 12:50pm, the TMC is leading in 202 seats and the bjp in 83. The election Commission’s official trends suggested the TMC was ahead in 202 constituencies and the bjp in 77. While the ruling party had a vote share of 48.5%, the corresponding number for the bjp was 37.5%. There is Neck-and-neck fight between bjp and TMC in Bengal. There were 824 assembly seats up for grabs in these assembly elections 2021. Of them, West bengal has the highest number of seats at 294.
