Hyderabad: Former Minister and veteran Congress leader K. Jana Reddy, who lost the by-elections of his constituency Nagarjuna Sagar, announced today that he will not run in the election again. He also announced that he would take a break from politics for some time.
After the counting of votes, he spoke to people in the media and said that he would honor the verdict of the residents of the constituency. He said he had contested in the election to stand by party president Sonia Gandhi, party leaders and workers. He said he would return to politics when needed. He claims that although some voters voted for fear of the ruling party, some voted because they thought they would get benefits from the state government. He reiterated that the Congress party’s supreme command formed Telangana on his proposal.
He said he followed all instructions of the party and added that he contested the Sagar by-elections due to the orders of the party’s supreme command, while noting that he was reluctant to contest the election.
