Hyderabad: The ruling TRS party wins a landslide victory in the Nagarjunasagar Assembly by-election and retains the seat. The candidate, Nomula Bhagat, won the seat with almost 19,000 votes and improved the majority compared to the 2018 polls.
In the 2018 election, the nominated TRS, the late Nomula Narsimhaiah, won the seat with a majority of 7,771 votes. He received 83,000 votes. Now his son Bhagat (TRS) received more than 89,000 votes. In the last election, Kong candidate K Janareddy received 75,000 votes and now he has received only 68,000 votes.
While Congress has now secured second place, the BJP has been relegated to third place with only about 8,000 votes. After the victory in the Dubbaka Assembly and GHMC polls, the BJP was on Cloud Nine and repeatedly stated that it was the only alternative to the TRS and that it would definitely come to power after the next election. Observers feel with the current result that the BJP bubble is bursting and the people who showed the party where it stands.
Bhagat has received much praise from many leaders for his remarkable victory.
