Tension prevails at Chanchalguda after graves were found at petrol station

Hyderabad: Tension reigned at Chanchalguda after locals protested against the ongoing construction work for a Telangana prison department petrol pump. The prison department has been doing the excavation for one month for the construction of a petrol pump in an open space bordering the Muslim cemetery (Sultan Daira).

Saturday night while the trench work for the installation of petrol tanks was underway at the bottom, the locals apparently saw some grave remains of people.

Shortly after this news spread in the area, numerous public gathered on the spot and strongly objected to the ongoing work on petrol pumps. The locals claim that the land belongs to the cemetery and that the petrol pump cannot be built on the site, and also that it poses a risk to the nearby residential area.

As a large number of people gathered at the scene, teams from the Madannapet police were employed and mobile pickups were patrolled.

A team of officials who are part of the Telangana State Wakf Board consists of Dy. Mohammed Safiullah, chief executive, also reached the point and made a panchnama.

The Department of Prisons already operates more than 13 gas stations in various districts in the state and is staffed by the released inmates and inmates who are being sentenced.
