PM Modi extends greetings on 400th Parkash Purab

New Delhi, May1 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday greeted people on the occasion of 400th Parkash Purab and recalled the supreme sacrifices made by Sri Guru Teg Bahadur for the downtrodden.
Taking to Twitter, Mr Modi said, On the special occasion of his 400th Parkash Purab, I bow to Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji. He is widely respected globally for his courage and his efforts to serve the downtrodden. He refused to bow to tyranny and injustice. His supreme sacrifice gives strength and motivation to many.''
He also offered prayers at Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib which was built at the site where the guru was beheaded by the Mughals in 1675.
Born on April 1, 1621, in Amritsar, Guru Tegh Bahadur was the ninth of ten Gurus who founded the Sikh religion and the leader of Sikhs from 1665 until his beheading in 1675.
He was the youngest son of Guru Hargobind Sahib, the sixth Sikh guru.
