Bhubaneswar, May 1 (UNI) The Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch today arrested two drug peddlers and seized over 1.3 KG of brown sugar worth over Rs 1.3 crore from their possession.
STF SP Prashant Bhoi said acting on a tip-off, raids were conducted at Sahadevkhunta Police station area in the Balasore district and the two drug peddlers were arrested while trying to sell the contraband.
The STF personnel seized 1360 grams of brown sugar and a motorcycle from their possession.
Police identified the two arrested as Manas Mukhi and Kamalakant Das. Further investigation is on.
In another incident acting on a reliable information Kandarpur Police in Cuttack district today arrested one Sk Raja, a veteran drug peddler and seized over 440 grams of brown sugar worth around Rs 45 lakh, a motorcycle and a mobile phone from his possession.
Kandarpur Police sources said Sk Raja was arrested while he was on his way to Jagatsinghpur district after supplying some of the contraband goods at Cuttack.
A Special team under the guidance of IIC Kandarpur has been constituted to arrest other drug peddlers behind this racket.
The STF has seized more than 30kg of brown sugar and 66 quintals of ganja since 2020.
