Film 'Rang De Basanti' actor Siddharth recently shocked his fans when he alleged that he and his family are receiving 'abuse, rape and death threats' after his phone number got leaked. Now, the police of Tamil Nadu decided to give him protection but the actor refused to take this 'privilege' and expressed his gratitude to them by tweeting, 'Thank you @tnpoliceoffl for the protection. I am the first person in my entire family's history to be given the same. However, I would politely like to give up this privilege so the same officers' time is better used for something else during this pandemic. Thank you again'. His action went viral on social media in no time as his ardent fans took to the comment section and lauded the actor. One of his fans wrote, 'You again won the heart of millions by this action!! I am sure d message you want to send across is you can afford to provide ur own security.' Siddharth was also lauded by politician Shashi Tharoor, who wrote, 'We often wonder why our on-screen heroes don’t speak up, or cravenly spout propaganda. One reason: the off-screen villains that our society projects & protects turn out to be more threatening than these heroes can handle. Except for a rare someone like Siddharth'. For the unversed, recently the actor accused a political unit of Tamil Nadu of leaking his personal phone number on social media as a result of which he had received several threat calls. Meanwhile, on the work front, the actor is keeping up busy with multiple projects. He will be next seen in the action-drama film 'Maha Samudram' co-starring actress Aditi Rao Hydari.
