BENGALURU: BBMP on Saturday issued a standard operating procedure to resident welfare associations across the city to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in apartments.
“All maids/helpers should be screened periodically — once in 15 days with RT-PCR test — and carry a negative report,” the order said.
“All outsiders like visitors, drivers and helpers should be screened at the entrance of apartments and hand wash/sanitisers are to be provided at entry and exit points. Care and attention need to be given to housekeeping staff and they should be provided with soap, sanitiser and liquid soap dispenser for periodic handwashing,” the Palike order read.
The SOP said that residents should be screened before entering the apartment complex using thermal scanners and those with Covid-19 symptoms should be isolated and referred to the nearest fever clinic/hospital for a check-up. BBMP said since elevators are closed spaces and a potential source of infection, RWAs should ensure lift-operating buttons are regularly sanitised.
RWAs should also ensure no Covid-positive resident is stigmatised by others in the apartment and there is no abuse/harassment of the affected resident.
