PATIALA: Police booked Punjabi singer Gippy Grewal and his team members for violating weekend lockdown by carrying out shooting of his movie in a village of Banur in Patiala district on Saturday.
The police said that Gippy Grewal and his crew members were arrested from Karala village of Rajpura division where the shooting was being carried out in the agricultural fields. However, the singer and his team were later released on bail.
The police claimed that Banur station house officer Balwinder Singh along with his police team had carried out a raid after getting a tip about the film shooting.
A death scene of the movie was being shot when the police team reached the spot and Grewal was asked to show permission documents regarding shooting the film during lockdown.
As the singer failed to show any permissions, the police arrested him along with others and registered a case against them.
After being caught, Grewal told the cops that he had applied for the permissions but his request was still pending. He said that it was their last day of shooting.
Grewal added that the shooting was being carrying out by keeping Covid protocols in check.
DSP Rajpura, Gurvinder Singh said, “We have booked Gippy Grewal and his some team members under Section 188 of IPC, Section 51 Disaster Management Act and Section 3 of Epidemic Act. Initially, the police was informed that around 100 team members are present at the site but later when police reached they found only a few people present there. They were arrested and released on bail. The action against the owner of land that was given or leased for the movie shooting process will also be taken in accordance with the rules.”
