Hyderabad, May 1 (UNI)Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan on Saturday approved the transfer of the Medical Health and Family Welfare Portfolio from Etela Rajender to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao with immediate effect, according to a Raj Bhavan communique here.
In the backdrop of assigned land grabbing allegations leveled against Mr Rajender by some villagers from Achampet in Medak District, Mr Rao earlier advised the Governor to transfer Etela’s portfolio to him.
On Friday night, the Chief Minister had instructed Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to get an inquiry done by the district collector on the complaints received from the villagers over encroachment of lands on the outskirts of Achampet in Masaipet Mandal of Medak district.
The Chief Minister also instructed Vigilance DGP Purnachandra Rao to find out the truth with regard to the allegations.
According to sources, the Revenue and Vigilance officials during the preliminary inquiry found that the assigned lands allocated to the villagers belonging to Achampet and Hakimpet by the government were grabbed.
The Medak District Collector will submit his report on the land grabbing to the government in the evening.
