In the meantime, there is a report that says that there are a lack of vaccines in the country which makes it impossible to inoculate every individual between the said age.

In the same context, scientist Virander Singh Chauhan spoke about this issue. Here is what he said about the COVID-19 vaccines.

What are the logistical challenges we can expect in the vaccination drive from May 1?

The vaccines like Moderna and Pfizer are overbooked. Dr Reddy’s Laboratories plans to manufacture 500 million doses of the Sputnik v vaccine, but that is when the production begins in Hyderabad. So, in May, we cannot see too many vaccines hitting the market.
How exactly will states procure vaccines from manufacturers?
The central government is the one that procures the vaccines and then distributes it to the manufacturers. To avoid slowdown in vaccination, states are procuring vaccines.
Have vaccine hesitancy and vaccine wastage affected the first two phases of rollout?
Yes. Nevertheless, if there were more than enough vaccines and still the population did not get vaccinated, then vaccine hesitancy would play a very important role.
What have been the key learnings from the first two phases of rollout and what can we do better this time?
We didn’t produce more vaccines when we have great potential. india could have been a major vaccine production hub COVID-19. The best way to confront the virus is by getting vaccinated.
