Gurgaon: With the number of cases going up in the district, the administration on Friday increased the number of large outbreak regions (LORs) to 170. Till Wednesday, the district had 91 LORs.
The areas will be marked as LORs from April 30 till May 13. “According to guidelines issued by the ministry of health and family welfare, a large outbreak region is defined as a geographical area that has an increased number of cases. The cases may or may not be linked. For operational purposes, a large outbreak area is considered to be present when there are 15 or more cases,” the district magistrate said in an order.
Most number of LORs has been identified in UPHC Tigra that has 24 housing societies and colonies like Bestech Park View Spa, Freedom Park Life, Jalvayu Towers, DLF The Crest, The Close North, Wembley Estate, Vatika City, La Lagune among others.
Areas in Chanderlok UPHC have 17 LORs, including Heritage City, Regency Park II, Ridgewood Estate, The lcon, Palm Grove Heights, and The Laburnum. As many as 13 societies in the new sectors along Dwarka Expressway, including Sare Homes, Vipul Lavanya, DLF New Town Heights, Vatika Seven Lamps, Mapsko Casabella and Mapsko Royal Ville have been notified as LORs.
The health department has said that intensive contact tracing and rapid antigen testing camps will be conducted in these places. “Apart from restrictions on movement, surveillance and testing activities would be carried out in these areas by rapid response teams comprising ASHA, ANM and other staff members,” said Dr Jai Prakash, district surveillance officer.
Wedding permits revoked, says SDM
Gurgaon sub-divisional magistrate Jitender Kumar has revoked permits to organise weddings and other events in containment zones with immediate effect. The SDM has issued an order in this regard saying that the decision was taken after the recommendation of the deputy commissioner of police, headquarters. “In Gurgaon subdivision, all permits for marriage and other events that were supposed to be held in LORs have been revoked with immediate effect,” an order said.
