CorCom calls for unification of workers

Imphal, April 30 2021: Greeting all the workers of the world, particularly those of Manipur on the occasion of International Workers' Day or May Day (May 1), the CorCom has called for unification of all the workers and peasants of Manipur.

A statement issued by the CorCom Publicity Committee remarked that it was the workers and more particularly migrant workers who suffered the worst in India on account of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the migrant workers were driven away from their work places, they had to go back to their native States and their return turned out be a major factor for extensive spread of COVID-19 in India.

Amidst the current second wave of COVID-19, a large number of migrant workers are going back to their native States, thereby posing a serious challenge to all the containment measures.

The people of India have been suffering catastrophic impacts of the second wave of COVID-19 because of misplaced policies and lack of political commitment on the part of the Government, the CorCom alleged.

The Government of India is more concerned about money than human lives.

Even as the first wave was not properly controlled, all restrictions were lifted as if the virus had been eradicated but it only landed the people in a sea of misery when the second wave struck the country, it remarked.

Instead of bolstering health care infrastructure and Covid containment measures, the Government was busy in holding a series of elections and it did not raise even a finger when the Kumbh Mela was held.

All these factors combined together has made India the worst Covid affected country in the world, it said.

The COVID-19 tally literally exploded in the aftermath of the elections as the prescribed protocol was not adhered to during election campaigns, rallies and voting.

That was why, the Madras High Court held the Election Commission accountable for the sharp spike in Covid fatality and positive cases, said CorCom.

Because of the misplaced policies and fallacies of Government of India, the people of Manipur (Kangleipak) too have been suffering a lot.

The Government of Manipur, instead of coming with their own ideas which are suitable to the local conditions, has been waiting for instructions from their masters, the CorCom alleged.

Peasants and workers of Manipur have been living a life of woes.

Workers and peasants are still unable to unite and present themselves as a strong force because there are not enough big factories and Manipur is a small State which is under alien rule, it said.

Yet, all the workers and peasants must unite and explore ways to lay a strong foundation for a vibrant society and dignified life.

This aspiration can be achieved only when Manipur becomes an independent country.

So the foremost duty of everyone including peasants and workers is to liberate Manipur (Kangleipak), it added.
