Kotkapura, April 30

Up in arms against the Punjab and Haryana High Court verdict on SIT report relating to Kotkapura firing incident, Panthic groups led by former Akal Takhat Jathedar Ranjit Singh today burnt the copies of the judgment, terming it political and flawed.

A large number of activists gathered at the Kotkapura Main Chowk carrying placards and raised slogans and burnt copies of the judgment.

The protest was organised at the same spot where the alleged police firing on October 14, 2015, occurred. Former Leader of Opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira said they marked their protest and anger against the flawed judgment by burning its copies.

SAD (Democratic) leader Parminder Singh Dhindsa said they did not expect any justice from the present government as the HC verdict had reflected its utter failure in defending the SIT report in the court. — TNS
