Rohit Sharma bowled in a new ad through the singing skills of Venkatesh Prasad

New Delhi: Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has been overthrown by the singing avatar of former Indian cricketers – Venkatesh Prasad, Javagal Srinath, Saba Karim and Maninder Singh.

In a new ad for CRED, shared by Rohit Sharma on Twitter, all four of these former cricketers can see a song being sung in perfect sync, and the lyrics read: ‘If you’re one of the genZ, you may not know me, go ask but for your dad, do not forget us because of T20s, do not baby, in the 90’s we were the OGs on your CRTs.

“We were the OGs, chased big runs, beat the Aussies, bowled for a long time in Sharjah ki garmie. We were the hotties, you ask phuphaji, who were the OGs, it was us,” the rest of the lyrics read.

Rohit responded to this new avatar from the former cricketers in India and tweeted: “From listening to how you coach me on the field, to now listening to you sing while I am on my way to the stadium. Venky bhai …. it was a journey. ‘Venkatesh Prasad and Javagal Srinath are considered one of the deadliest tempo duos to come out of India in the 1990s. Both shared a great bowling partnership and the duo have handed over many victories to the Men in Blue in the past.

Venkatesh Prasad is remembered for his game in the 1996 World Cup quarter-final against Pakistan. Aamir Sohail decided to slip the fit after hitting him for a boundary at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, but Venkatesh had the perfect answer when he sent Sohail’s wicketkeeper the next delivery.
