Finally, as an answer to the main query among students, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released the policy for the tabulation of marks for Class 10 students on Saturday.
As board exams have been cancelled due to the Covid-19 situation, Class 10 students will be assessed out of maximum 100 marks for each subject, with 20 marks for internal assessment and 80 marks which were allotted for year-end board exams. The results of CBSE Class 10 students will be declared on June 20, 2021, announced the board.
The CBSE board said 20 marks for internal assessment conducted by affiliated schools will be as per the existing policy. While, due to cancellation of board exams, the assessment of 80 marks will be done by the school based on the marks scored by the candidate in different tests or exams conducted by the school during the academic year. Also, the marks should be in consonance with the past performance of the school in Class 10 board examinations.
The 80 marks will comprise of 40 marks for pre-board examinations conducted by the school, 30 marks for half yearly or mid-term examinations and 10 marks for periodic tests or unit tests conducted by the school in the academic year.
The board stated, "Each school shall form a result committee comprising of the principal and seven teachers for finalising the results. Out of which, five teachers will be from Mathematics, Social Science, Science and two languages. While, two teachers from neighbouring schools should be co-opted by the school as external members of the committee."
Schools have been informed to submit scores out of 80 marks to the CBSE board by June 5 and submit internal assessment scores out of 20 marks by June 11, 2021. The CBSE board said, "Results of CBSE Class 10 students will be declared on June 20, 2021."
Also, in case students who are not able to meet the qualifying criterion will be allowed to continue in Class 11 till the declaration of results of compartment examination by CBSE.
