PATIALA: In a move to ensure the uninterrupted supply of oxygen, the district administration in Patiala today took a unique initiative by launching 'Oxygen on Wheels' service round the clock amid the surge in Covid cases. The officials said that in case of emergency, if any private or government hospital in the district needs oxygen, then this 24x7 oxygen bank service would be made available for immediate delivery of oxygen at their doorstep. Patiala deputy commissioner Kumar Amit ensured to make oxygen available to all private and government hospitals of the district and said that district administration is regularly in touch with state authorities to make proper arrangements and allocation as per need. “Besides, we have audited the use of oxygen in the district hospitals, in the last few days to know the actual consumption and to stop any type of wastage in this testing time. Today's initiative of the district administration would ensure to make reserved oxygen cylinders available to any private or government hospital in emergency need. To deliver the oxygen cylinders in an emergency situation, 'Oxygen on Wheels' service would be proved beneficial for all of us to sort out any problem related to oxygen in the district immediately,” said Amit while appealing the people to follow the government instructions to curb the spread of pandemic. He recommended home-isolated Covid patients when their oxygen saturation get lower than 94 per cent, body temperature increase above 100.5 F, pulse rate shoot above 120 per minute, blood sugar level cross above 200 or decrease below 70 and in addition, blood pressure shoot above 130/90 or below 100/70, feel shortness of breath, heaviness in the chest, the colour of lips change or having any other kind of discomfort then must consult a doctor or call 104/112 immediately. He said that the district administration has set up helpline numbers 0175-2350550 for inquiries regarding Covid and helpline number 62843-57500 for oxygen related queries.
