After a career as a cinematographer for over a decade, he helmed Tamil films like 'Ayan', 'Ko', 'Maattrraan', 'Anegan', 'Kavan' and 'Kaappaan' to name a few. Anand made his directorial debut with the 2005 movie 'Kana Kandaen'.
KV Anand started his career as a photojournalist assisting noted cinematographer PC Sreeram in films such as 'Gopura Vasalile', 'Meera', 'Devar Magan', 'Amaran' and 'Thiruda Thiruda'.
For the unversed, Anand had won a National Film Award for his debut film as a cinematographer, the Malayalam movie 'Thenmavin Kombath' in 1994. It was Sreeram who had recommended his name for the film.
