The Delhi High Court while hearing the matter of oxygen shortage in the capital on Friday asked suppliers to cooperate as Delhi is reeling under an acute shortage of oxygen.
The bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli hearing the matter said, "We can't make money off others' desperation at this time. We must show empathy and concern and bring out our best."
The court told oxygen suppliers, "Please understand, this is not a battle, it’s a war. We need everyone to cooperate."
Oxygen suppliers told the court, "We are providing all the data of our oxygen supply to the Delhi Government on a daily basis. Delhi Govt officers are present in our plants all day and complete information is being shared with them."
Advocate Sacchin Puri has submitted that nearly 170 oxygen concentrators were seized by the Delhi Police yesterday. The court has now ordered the release of those oxygen concentrators today.
The court said while legal proceedings may continue, it is the need of the hour that these equipment are released by authorities without any delay.
The bench said, “We direct the state to immediately take steps and release equipment.”
The bench said it had passed a similar order on Thursday in which it had directed the deputy commissioner (DC) of the AAP government's revenue department to issue orders for the release of Remdesivir, used in the treatment of Covid-19, as soon as the medicine is seized by the police from hoarders and black-marketeers.
