Following the talks between US President Joe Biden and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the delivery flew from the Travis military base in California as the country fights a deadly second wave that has strained the healthcare system. In view of the debilitating situation in India, the equipment donated by companies and individuals will continue to arrive in the country via special flights in the next week, said the US officials.

Earlier, Biden pledged sustained support to India in its fight against Covid. He tweeted,  just as India sent assistance to the United States as our hospitals were strained early in the pandemic, we are determined to help India in its time of need.

The State Department spokesman Ned Price on Thursday informed about the Covid relief supplies saying, delivering supplies worth more than $100 million in the coming days to provide urgent relief to our partners in India.
